As National Sickle cell awareness month comes to an end, we would like to give a special thank you to our Sickle cell warriors, families, caregivers and supporters for celebrating, educating and supporting one another. We must continue to work together to bring upon the change that we strive to see. A job well done to you all.
The latest news!
The Sickle cell warriors of Buffalo Board members met with Senator Timothy Kennedy and his team last week to discuss plans to ensure that S.C families in the state of New York are receiving the care and support they need. Also, to ensure the accuracy of sickle cell trait testing and data collection.
We will continue to work together until all of our goals are meet and we have acquired our Sickle cell comprehensive center that our warriors deserve.
This past weekend our President Juanita McClain and Vice President Jason Moore alongside friends attended SCAR Sickle cell gala in Rochester, Ny to speak to event attendees about SCWB initiatives and share their personal journeys. Our partner Mark Goodwin and family was in attendance as well. Huge shout out to Gladys Mcgee and the rest of the SCAR team on hosting such an amazing and successful educational event. The entire night was wonderful and insightful.
Upcoming!!! This October 2023 our youth and young adult Sickle cell transitions program and support group will be held in-person at East high school 820 Northampton Street, Buffalo Ny 14211. We invite our families to join us as we continue to grow and support one another. We are currently planning for our Holiday Winter wonder festival that will take place this December. More details to come soon. We need your support!!! Our programs and events are put in place to help support and educate our community, but we can't do it alone. We need the support of our community and S.C families in order to continue to receive and provide support and resources to those impacted by Sickle cell disease.
